• THX Certification on PZ800 and PZ850 series.

Which Viera is Right For You?

Amazing color reproduction

The incredible black reproduction of a Panasonic High-Definition Plasma TV results in impressive contrast and beautiful, natural colors. So you'll get warm, accurate skin tones, gorgeous greens, breathtaking blues and vivid reds. For color that's as rich and bold as life itself, look to a Panasonic Plasma TV.

Consistent brightness from any angle

A Panasonic Plasma combines anti-glare and anti-reflection technology with the natural light-emitting properties of plasma, to give you a super-wide viewing range with a crisp, beautiful image from almost any angle.

Smooth, graceful motion

When you're watching sports or movies with fast-motion graphics, you want a TV that can keep up with the action. With over 900 lines of moving picture, self-illuminating plasma displays eliminate afterimages in fast-action scenes. So whether you're watching a sporting event or an action-packed movie, you'll always get the most impressive viewing experience possible.

1,000,000:1 Contrast

The Panasonic's Real Black system (a pre-discharge suppression system) and improved panel production processes combine to reproduce outstanding blacks with superb contrast. Each image is richly expressive, from bright scense, like scorching desert landscapes, to dark cave scenes. Compare the image produced by conventional HDTV on the left to the Real Black image produced on the right.

More Colors

Viera HDTVs support the xvYCC color profile (Extended YCC Colorimetry for Video Applications), or "x.v. color" for short. Standard RGB color space allows the display of a portion of the colors that are viewable to the human eye. The next generation "xvYCC" color space actually offers an available range of colors that exceeds what human eyes can recognize.
 • Next-generation "xvYCC" color space supports 1.8 times as many colors as existing HDTV signals.
 • Lets HDTVs display colors more accurately.
 • Enables displays with more natural and vivid colors.

Deep Color

Where x.v. color expands the available range of colors your HDTV can display, Deep Color increases the number of colors your HDTV can display within that range, for smoother transitions from color to color.
 • Lets HDTVs and other displays go from millions of colors to billions of colors.
 • Eliminates on-screen color banding, for smooth tonal transitions and subtle gradations between colors.
 • Enables increased contrast ratio.
 • Can represent many times more shades of gray between black and white.

Connectivity

Viera flat panel HDTVs interact with an array of high-definition devices and services, making it easy for consumers to access and enjoy content as never before. As of 2008, Viera Link is compatible with Onkyo and Yamaha home theater systems.

Videos and stills recorded on SD cards can easily be viewed via the SD slots on Panasonic Blu-Ray Disc players and Viera HDTVs.

Viera Link means easy connectivity via HDMI cables. Finally, consumers can easily operate their Blu-Ray Disc players, DVD recorders and home theater systems with a single remote control device.

Long Life

Panasonic plasma panels are rated to last 100,000 hours, which is about 30 years of regular or 11 years of non-stop usage before the brightness of the display is halved.

Get Full HD with Blu-Ray Disc Players

A Panasonic 1080p plasma television is able to render 1920x1080 pixels, but standard DVDs have a resolution of just 720x480. Blu-ray discs output true 1080p High-Definition resolution and have a storage capacity ten times greater than standard DVDs, so no pixel gos to waste.

1) Great picture quality for the price - Price was a significant contributor to my decision to buy this TV. Conversations with tv-guys made me think that I needed to pony up for a 1080, but I just could not justify the premium over the 720p. Now that I have it, I am glad I saved my money. The picture quality is great, both in high def and for normal (low def?) viewing. Whenever I have guests and the TV is on, they are blown away by the quality and ask my questions about it.

I also like the anti-glare screen. At first I was a little concerned that the anti-glare picture would look "dull" compared to your average plasma, but that is no longer a concern - it looks great.

Another big plus for me was the appearance of the TV. Like other Panasonic models, this TV is sleek. Vizio and other manufacturers seem to incorporate larger speakers that look clunky in comparison. The size of the tv relative to the picture size is great - looks nice on the wall, and doesn't take up any more room than it needs to.

In fact, the reason why I am writing this review is because I am going to buy another one for a different room in the house. Panasonic has definitely won my repeat business with this one - I think that says it all.

1) Exactly what we were looking for - Our box TV died, so we finally entered the flat screen market. (Our kid's neighborhood friends can stop laughing now every time they come over.) Buying on a budget, we were looking for a 47"-55" television for around $500.00, though we were willing to spend up to $750.00. After a day of research and shopping we settled on this TV, and we are very happy with the choice. We paid $429.00 for the set and the picture quality is great, the television is sleek and elegant, and the stand swivels and blends in with the set just fine. It's a perfect fit for our modestly sized family room.

At first I was concerned about the 720p resolution, but after reading reviews we were assured that picture would be fine and compared to other televisions the difference would be indistinguishable unless you were two or three feet away from the screen looking at text. Sure enough, we have the set and the picture quality is excellent. I prefer the plasma sets over the LED models. To me the picture is more vibrant with the plasmas, and that is definitely the case with this LG model.

This set is bare bones. Only two HDMI ports and one USB. But that's not a problem for us. We are able to hook our pc to the TV and that provides most of the features that a SMART TV would provide. (SMART TV? Has there ever been a more funny oxymoron?) I do not find the bare bones aspect of the television to be a problem since we are minimalists. In fact, I like how easy this television is to figure out. The remote is very intuitive and so is the operation of its different modes. We wanted a television that offered a big screen with outstanding picture quality for the best price possible. I believe we found that with the LG 50PN4500. It doesn't make coffee, it can't iron our clothes, and it won't take the angst out of my teenage daughter's life, but it does make television viewing a genuine pleasure.

Our family watched Les Miserables last night, and the sound quality was very good and the picture was outstanding. A wonderful viewing experience for the four of us.

1) VIZIO is setting a new standard for excellence at a bargain price - Over the course of the past 2 years; we've replaced all of our TV's with those manufactured by Vizio. Our first HDTV was a Samsung 40" that we purchased in 2007. Recently, a problem developed in one of the circuit boards, rendering the picture unwatchable. Since new TV's have come down so much in price; it wasn't worth spending the money to fix it. I've been so pleased with the performance of our other Vizio TV's, that I decided to purchase this one. Our Samsung fit into a cabinet that we wanted to use for our new Vizio, and we found that since the actual size of the TV is about the same as the Samsung; it fits into the cabinet perfectly. We also get an additional 2" of screen, which makes a difference. Setting up this TV is a breeze, and to say that I'm satisfied with its performance would be an understatement. What I especially like is the ability to watch football games without having to see a blur when the players are running down the field. I'm no expert when it comes to technology, but I think that this has something to do with the increased refresh rate over older model TV's. All I know is that the picture is magnificent and crystal clear, the speakers are decent(I'll be connecting my own), and the Internet Apps are out of this world. It takes just a few minutes to set up a wireless Internet connection, and once done: you have access to an endless array of movies, TV shows and apps from many different sources. I'm so impressed with this TV that I have nothing negative to say about it. It has everything that I was looking for, was easy to set up, and works flawlessly. I couldn't ask for anything more.

1) very energy efficient ! - I bought this TV (2015 model) at Target recently, and it has been working well. It only weighs about 20 pounds, so it was easy to carry and to assemble (two legs). The TV was all set after connecting some media boxes and cable and took only about 10 minute. This is a 2015 model, and the design has not changed much from last year’s model, but I really like the design. The thin and metallic look bezel (still plastic) is trendy and simple; all thick black bezel looks like a thing of the past. The 2.2 inches of thiness is about half of the thickness from my 55" sammy LED TV, and it makes easy and elegant to hang on the wall. FYI, if one wanted to wall mount, this TV has vesa 400 x 400 mm and comes with a pair of wall mount space for the upper holes.

The factory default color setting was quite good; I did not have to adjust anything to calibrate the colors and what not. This is my third LED TV from LG (various sizes and models I’ve purchased in the past several years), and I always found that the color setting was very natural and accurate. In contrast, other brands’ LED TVs I’ve owned needed some color adjustment to make it look more natural. However, if one prefers different color presets (vivid, APS, cinema, game, expert1 and 2) are available in the menu.) I just prefer the standard color setting. On this TV, movies and TV shows look very nice. The picture quality is super clear and sharp; it's pleasuring to watch things in good HD quality. And of course, a nice set of extra speakers would help gaining more pleasure since the built in speakers are 'built in' speakers.

One thing I'd like to mention in this review is the yellowish tint on the right hand side of the screen. It is very subtle and minimal, and I don't think it's noticeable for a normal consumer, but because I am sensitive to color accuracy, I picked out on a white background. However, during daily TV watching, this was not be noticeable at all, and mine did not show any light bleeding or dead pixels.

Overall, I like this very basic LED TV. It's not a 'smart' model, but a Roku, Fire TV, Chromecast, or Apple TV are always better than 'smart' TV, in my opinion. Picture quality is what’s impressive, and it clearly stood out among other LED TVs when I looked side by side at the store. However, the biggest pro for me on this one is the low energy consumption. I set the Energy Saving mode at medium and my P3 meter measured 29 Watts/hour. That’s probably 10 times less than what Plasma TVs used to consumed in the past. Less than 30 watts/hour is pretty impressive, and the screen is still not too dim. Now I don’t feel too guilty watching a TV too long.
